What LEED Is
Download LEED StatementLEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third party verification that a building or community was designed and build using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resource and sensitivity to their impacts.
LEED Projects
The Elward Systems Corporation panels systems can help earn certification points in the LEED Green Building Rating System. Below is a rough guide for the most likely categories and the approximate data you can expect in each.
Here are a few examples of LEED Certified projects that Elward Systems has participated in the past.
Materials & Resources: MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content:
ESC Composite Panel Systems with Alucobond Fire Core
ESC Composite Panel Systems with Alucobond Standard Core
ESC Composite Panel Systems with Reynobond Fire Core
ESC Composite Panel Systems with Reynobond Standard Core
ESC TRESPA Exposed Fastening System
ESC TRESPA Concealed Fastening System
MR Credit 5.1 & 5.2 Regional Materials: Locally Harvested and Manufactured
Points may be awarded for this category under the “Distance Manufactured from Site” category for projects local to Colorado.
Innovation in Design: ID Credit 1
ACM Panel Systems:
- Possible Points may be earned for the above average recycled content of our composite panel systems.
- Application of the new Alucobond or Reynobond Cool finishes which both reflect heat energy and offer a low-maintenance finish.
TRESPA panel systems:
- TRESPA panel finish is a very low maintenance finish.
Elward Systems Corporation Environmental Awareness
The United States has long been at the forefront of environmental preservation. In recent years the term, sustainability has been used to describe this philosophy in construction. Sustainability is the latest way of addressing an age-old concern: ensuring that the next generation will live in a world that is at least as good as today, preferably better.
As a manufacturer we have a responsibility to deliver a manufactured product to our customers using as few resources as possible. Elward Systems Corporation uses a philosophy of continuous improvement to improve our process and use of energy. Continuous upgrades to our automated equipment, our processes and a recent replacement of virtually every light fixture in our facility are a few examples of our commitment to resource conservation. Products that are not utilized are recycled. Our aluminum extrusion scrap is recycled and our composite panels are sent to a facility that separates and recycles the separate materials. Our office paper is recycled and organic materials composted.
Aluminum is an attractive construction material for designers looking for credits for the LEED program due to both the recyclability and use of recycled content inherit with this material.
New, cool paint finish technology is now available on our ACM line of panels. These new finishes offer higher solar reflectivity, potential energy savings and reduced air conditioning costs.
Sustainability has lead to the deconstruction rather than the demolition of older buildings. At the end of a buildings life cycle the value of aluminum as a scrap material make it more likely to be recycled instead of in a landfill.
